Hamburger Soup for the Instant Pot

Hi there,

Just wanted to post a recipe for Hamburger Soup that I made in my Instant Pot (which, thankfully, I didn’t have to pay the full price for).😉 My family loved it!

I based it off of THIS recipe.

Hamburger Soup

INGREDIENTS:

1# ground beef
1# ground turkey
2 cups chopped onion
2 cups diced potatoes
2 cups diced carrots
(I love using THIS chopper for dicing.)
2 cups shredded cabbage (used coleslaw mix)
2 (14.5 oz) cans of diced tomatoes
2 (14.5 oz) cans of tomato sauce
1/2 TB salt
1/2 TB ground mustard
1 tsp pepper
4-6 cups water
shredded cheese (optional)
chopped dill pickles

1. Select saute on your Instant Pot and brown meat when it says HOT. Once browned, drain fat if desired.
2. Open your cans of tomato products if you haven’t already, and add to the pot while the beef is draining. I like to process the diced tomatoes a bit because my family doesn’t like chunks of tomato in the soup.
3. Add the meat back in and add everything but the water, cheese, and pickles.
4. Add the water in small amounts until it’s about the thickness that you desire. Depending on the size of your pot you may not want to go much more than 4 cups. Do not exceed the Max line!
5. Cancel the Saute option. Place the lid on, making sure to close the vent. Select the Soup option and keep it at 30 minutes.
6. I let the soup naturally release pressure for 15-20 minutes and it still had to depressurize a bit when I opened the vent.
7. Top with shredded cheese and chopped dill pickles if desired.

I hope you enjoy!

{For the Freezer Friday} Chicken Soup

I don’t know about you, but we love soup in the winter time. Me… I love it anytime, any day, any season.😀

Whenever I make soup, I like to make a couple of bags for the freezer, too. Like the last time I made chicken soup.

Chicken Soup Bowl

If I’ve already got all the stuff out to chop, might as well keep chopping.

Here’s what I added…

Carrots

Celery

Onion

2 cups chicken broth

1-2 large chicken breasts

1/2 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1 T Adobo Seasoning (this is our favorite seasoning)

Mix it all together and freeze. When it comes time to cook the soup, simply defrost in the fridge and dump into your crockpot with another 4-6 cups of chicken broth. Feel free to add some frozen mixed veggies, or mushrooms, or whatever you like to add to your soup. You’ll be glad to have the base to pull out of the freezer.🙂

Two chicken Soup mixes for the freezer.
Two chicken Soup mixes for the freezer.

Here are some more soups that would freeze well…

Stuffed Pepper Soup

Vegetable Fajita Soup (Add meat if you’d like.)

Ham and Cannellini Bean Soup (Do not freeze the kale.  Add towards the end of cooking time.)

and Tortellini Soup, just to name a few (Again, don’t freezer the spinach.)

All of these recipes use Wildtree ingredients, which you can get at a discounted price if you’d like. There’s no obligation to sell the products at all. You can simply enjoy the discount and all the goodies that come in your kit. If you want to know more, just fill out this form and I can answer your questions.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and God bless!

{Therapeutic Thursday} Cold and Flu Salve

It’s that time of the year when sickness is abound. I mentioned in my Young Living tab that my boys have been sick so much this season. And that’s why I decided to become a Young Living member.

I have been having so much fun with these oils! I have to admit that I’ve been wanting to experiment with making my own salves and such. Well now I have that opportunity! And the first thing I made was a Cold and Flu Salve.

I’ve been seeing pins for these Cold/Flu bombs that my friends have been taking (and kicking their germs to the curb!). However, my boys can’t swallow pills yet, so I made the salve for their feet.

Ooooo, Aaaaaaaah, don't they look so fancy?

Wildtree Wednesday ~ A couple more freezer meals

Last week, I planned to make a bunch of freezer meals while all the kids were away to school and other activities. One of my kiddos got sick on the day that I planned to do this, so it got postponed. However, I decided to make just a couple that night while I was making dinner. It didn’t take me any more time to make these 2 meals then it did to make dinner.

I decided to make Sloppy Skillet from a previous workshop. And while working on that I would make 2 portions of the Quick Crockpot Lasagna from the One Stop Crock Simple. Healthy. Workshop.

I'm ready to get down to business.

{Toddler Tuesday} Snowmen at Night

Hot. Glue. Guns. There’s a love hate relationship for ya. Love the outcome, do not love all the glue strings during the process.😛

ANY ways… We got a book from my Aunt not too long ago called Snowmen at Night.

You can tell it was a popular one because it’s well loved (lots of taped pages).😉 And it was no different for A. He loves this book! That got me to thinking about the fun felt pages I made to go with The Very Hungry Caterpillar. What if we made some felt snowmen? So I got to work…

I kind of took over the kitchen table.
