Advent Calendar

We bought an advent calendar last year from Target. I really like it. It looks like a log house with 25 doors on it. The idea, of course, is to open a door each day to see what is in there. A friend of mine gave me some patterns and documents to use that have verses and tell the Christmas story. So I’ve been wanting to get around to making things to put in the doors and haven’t had a lot of time. Today I did though!

My idea is to make an ornament for each day to hang on the tree. I used my Scallop Circle punch from Stampin Up! to make the ornaments. It was really hard to punch through 2 layers of SU! card stock though. Ouch! That’ why there’s only 4. I will probably make 2 a day until they’re done. But at least I have 4! Here’s the inside…

I used my 1 3/8″ circle punch, again from Stampin Up! Using Microsoft Word, I just searched for the images I needed and sized them to fit in a 1 3/8″ circle. They all fit on one page and then I started punching. So easy! 🙂
For the hanger, I just tied a knot in some ribbon. Then I poked a hole in the fold of the scallop and pulled the ribbon through. I made small loops so that I can insert a hook, but you could also make the loops bigger and hang them from the ribbon.
I’m sure you can do much more with these to decorate them. I, however, don’t have that much time to spend on them, so I need to kick ’em out as quickly as possible.
Well that’s all for today. I hope you have a wonderful day!
God bless,
Antoinette
