{Therapeutic Thursday} Cold and Flu Salve

It’s that time of the year when sickness is abound. I mentioned in my Young Living tab that my boys have been sick so much this season. And that’s why I decided to become a Young Living member.

I have been having so much fun with these oils! I have to admit that I’ve been wanting to experiment with making my own salves and such. Well now I have that opportunity! And the first thing I made was a Cold and Flu Salve.

I’ve been seeing pins for these Cold/Flu bombs that my friends have been taking (and kicking their germs to the curb!). However, my boys can’t swallow pills yet, so I made the salve for their feet.

Ooooo, Aaaaaaaah, don't they look so fancy?

My friend recommended putting the salve on their feet every night whether they are sick or not. She’s been putting it on her daughter’s feet daily and she hasn’t been sick for 2 years!!! Woah!

I had tried just mixing it with melted coconut oil, but I wanted a different texture. Soooo, off to search for a recipe to use. And do you think I can find the one that I used? Of course not. :-/ So if you’re reading this, and the recipe sounds familiar, and you know where it came from, please tell me so that I can give credit where credit is due!

BASIC RECIPE:
1/2 c Olive or Grapeseed oil (I got this for half price.)
2 TB Beeswax Pellets
30 drops of Essential Oils
I used…
10 drops of Thieves
10 drops of Melaleuca alternifolia
5 drops of Frankincense
& 5 drops of Lemon

Here are the star ingredients.

To make the salve, I put the Beeswax and Grapeseed oil in an 8 oz canning jar. Then I placed that jar in a 1 quart pot with cold water. I heated the water to boiling and then let it simmer to melt the Beeswax. Once that was melted, I removed the jar from the water and added the Essential Oils. All that remained was to stir it up really good and pour into the containers.

I had so much fun making this that I’m going to get some more containers and have a giveaway! Make sure you go to my Facebook page and like it so that you can get in on that. 😉 I plan to do a giveaway, at least, once a month! (In fact, doing a giveaway right now, until Feb. 5th!)

Thank you so much for stopping by and God bless!
